2006 Dodge Durango EGR Valve Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Replace an EGR Valve and Solenoid Assembly on 2006 Dodge Durango?
A: The left cylinder head has the electronic EGR valve and solenoid mounted at the rear. Capturing any DTC's should be your first step with a diagnostic scan tool. Detach and separate the negative battery cable from the battery, take out the plastic windshield cowl panel and get rid of the windshield wiper motor. To release the routing tube, detach the retaining clamp from the EGR valve, free it from the EGR solenoid and pull the other end out of the intake manifold. Before lifting the solenoid away, remove the gasket between the solenoid and the tube, disconnect the wire connector and free the retainers that keep it in place. Detach the gasket that is underneath the EGR solenoid. For the installation process, wash the space around the gasket at the rear of the left cylinder head where it meets the base of the EGR valve and clean the EGR routing tube at the point it connects to the EGR valve. Insert a new gasket into space between the EGR valve and the cylinder head, then secure it onto the cylinder head by tightening the retainers to 9 Nm. On the EGR valve assembly, insert a new gasket between the EGR routing tube flange and the EGR valve, place the EGR routing tube to the side at this point, align the tube into its place at the intake manifold and tighten the retainers to 11 Nm. On the wiring side, connect the electrical connector to the EGR valve solenoid, fix the windshield wiper motor and put back the plastic cowl panel. Then, attach the negative battery cable back to the car's posts and erase any old DTC's with a diagnostic tool.
