2005 Dodge Durango Knock Sensor Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Effectively Remove and Install a Knock Sensor Under the Intake Manifold on 2005 Dodge Durango?
A: It's important for the PCM to notice when the sensor positions match the left knock sensor which has a large bolt head and LEFT tag. Start by unplugging the knock sensor's twin wires from under the rear of the engine, after which you can take out the intake manifold. Then, remove the sensor mounting bolts and remember that the foam strip is simply for holder in assembly and should not be used as a sealant; no glue or sealant should go on these bolts. When the sensors are removed, wipe out the mounting holes and add the new sensors to the cylinder block. Use the proper torque twist for the mounting bolts; tightening them too much or too little will have an effect on both knock sensor functions and spark control. After tightening the bolts of the mount according to the specification, place the intake manifold back in position and link the knock sensor wiring harness to the engine harness at its rear.
