  A: One ignition coil is fitted between each spark plug into machined bores in the head and a mounting stud/nut holds it securely to the intake manifold. At the base of the coil is a rubber boot that seals the spark plug and a spring inside touches both the coil and the spark plug. All coil components are safely fixed, so the boots and springs remain within the coil and are not serviced on their own, with the O-ring used to seal the section leading into the cylinder. Sometimes, to get at the coil, you need to take off the air intake tube or intake box. Push the release button and pull out the electrical connector from the coil. Gently wipe down any buildup at the base of the coil with compressed air and then remove the nut from the mounting stud. Gently twist and lift up the coil from the cylinder head opening and take it out of your vehicle. During installation, apply compressed air to get rid of dirt from around the spark plug's area and inspect the coil O-ring; if it looks worn, change it. Before you install the ignition coil, roll some silicone on its O-ring, insert the coil into the open part of the cylinder head and press the coil base over the mounting stud to connect the spark plug. Attach the mounting stud for the coil using the torque limit recommended, join the electrical connector to the coil and put the throttle body tube back in place if it needs replacing.
