2005 Dodge Grand Caravan A/C Condenser Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Properly Remove and Install an A/C Condenser on 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan?
A: Be sure to remember where all the seals are located before you remove the A/C condenser; these seals need to be put back correctly to help with both engine and A/C cooling. Start by taking out the refrigerant and taking off the front fascia of the car. Traditionally, it is not necessary to unscrew the connection nuts from the tapping block; this step is optional. Then, release the transmission oil cooler lines from their quick-connects on the left side of the air conditioner condenser and remove the air conditioning refrigerant discharge and liquid lines from the right side of the air conditioner condenser. Fix plugs to or secure tape over the A/C discharge and liquid line fittings and over the condenser ports. Come away from the upper A/C condenser brackets, then pull up on the A/C condenser to let go of the lower brackets from the radiator and take it out of the compartment. While installing a new A/C condenser, use 50 milliliters (1.7 fluid ounce) of the recommended oil and check that the seals around the radiator and condenser are correctly placed again. Put the A/C condenser in position in the engine compartment, carefully lower it, attach the mounting brackets to the radiator's base and engage the clips on the upper mounting brackets above the radiator. Disconnect the tape or plugs from the opened fittings and condenser ports and then join the A/C condenser to the discharge and liquid lines. Engage the lines from the transmission oil cooler to the quick-connect points on the transmission cooler tapping block completely. Afterward, add the front fascia, clear out the refrigerant system and add the necessary refrigerant.
