2005 Dodge Neon A/C Hose Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Replace an A/C Hose on 2005 Dodge Neon?
A: Start by separating the negative battery cable, so any remaining refrigerant can be recovered from the air conditioning system. Open the bolt holding the discharge line fitting on the top of the compressor and loosen the fitting from the discharge port, dumping out the rubber seal. Put a plug or tape over the discharge line fitting and where the air flows out of the compressor. Once the vehicle is raised on a hoist, remove the securing bolt from the fitting, take out the line and discard any seal and cover the openings in the process. Place the new discharge line in the engine compartment, undo the tape or plugs from the condenser inlet port and fitting, put clean refrigerant oil on a new O-ring and connect the discharge line fitting to the condenser inlet port. Attach the bumper with a 12 Nm (108 in. lbs.) tightened bolt and then lower your vehicle. Disconnect the tape or plugs from the compressor's discharge port and discharge line fitting, rub another new O-ring with oil and install it on the discharge line fitting before joining it to the compressor. Secure this connection using a bolt that has tightened to 12 Nm (108 in. lbs.), then drain out the refrigerant, top it up with gas and replace the negative battery cable.
