2005 Dodge Neon Clutch Master Cylinder Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair a Clutch Master Cylinder on 2005 Dodge Neon?
A: Begin by inserting the master cylinder into a vise after it has been clamped. If you have a non-ABS master cylinder, attach four Bleed Tubes, Special Tool 8358-1, to its four ports and tighten them, being sure the bleed tubes for the rear brakes are attached to the proportioning valves screwed into the master cylinder. Insert the other side of the tubes into the master cylinder and make sure the outlets stay covered in brake fluid when you fill it. To an ABS unit, add Special Tool 8358-1 on the main side and tighten it and Special Tool 8358-2 on the lower side and tighten that too, ensuring both parts are in the reservoir as you work. Top up the brake fluid tank using Mopar brake fluid or a DOT 3-compliant substitute. Fit a wooden dowel into the holes of the piston, push the piston in slowly to brake the cycle and release it to allow the cycle to reset. Keep repeating the process until all the bubbles in the tubes and master cylinder bore are gone. Remember to take the bleed tubes from the master cylinder next and plug the outlet ports after that. This is followed by putting the fill cap on the reservoir and finally removing the master cylinder from the vise.
