2005 Dodge Ram 3500 Blend Door Actuator Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Remove and Install a Blend Door Actuator in Single and Dual Zone HVAC Systems on 2005 Dodge Ram 3500?
A: With a single zone heating-A/C system, the actuator is located in a single blend door, but when there are two zones, two actuators are provided, one for each side. Before doing the service, remove the negative battery cable and wait two minutes to ensure the air bags won't accidentally go off due to discharging the air bag system. Before removing the blend door actuator, disconnect the negative battery cable and remove the instrument panel. After that, unscrew the two screws that hold the blend door actuator to the back of the HVAC housing, take out the actuator and remove the HVAC wire harness connector. When installing, put the actuator on the back of the HVAC housing, making sure the shaft on the actuator lines up with the blend door lever. Screw in the actuator so the force is 2.2 N.m (20 in.lbs.), reconnect the HVAC wire harness, put back the instrument panel and then attach the negative battery cable.
