2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee Crankshaft Seal Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Repair and Service a Crankshaft Seal on 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee?
A: The initial step for this operation is to remove the battery's accessory drive belt and remove the negative cable from the battery. After that, take out the fasteners holding the A/C compressor and set them aside and then release the coolant from the system and unhook the upper radiator hose. Unplug the wire for the fan inside the radiator shroud and then take out the radiator cooling fan. Afterward, get the crankshaft damper bolt off and use Special Tools 8513 Insert and Tool 1026 Three Jaw Puller to remove the damper. Take advantage of Special Tool 8511 to take out the front crankshaft seal. During installation, make sure both the damper bore and the crankshaft nose are properly cleaned so that they are not damaged. Apply Special Tool 8348 and 8512 for the front crankshaft seal and next install the vibration damper. Instead, begin by reinstalling the fan, the shroud and the upper radiator radiator hose. Replace the A/C compressor, make sure all the screws are in 54 Nm and secure the accessory drive belt. Add coolant to the system, reconnect the negative cable to the battery and you are done.
