How to Service and Repair a Front Shock Absorber on 2005 Jeep Wrangler?

Begin servicing the front shock absorb by opening the upper stud where you can reach the nut, retainer and grommet. After that, take out the nuts and bolts at the lower end of the axle bracket to release the shock absorber. First, have the lower retainer and grommet rest on the upper stud, then push the shock through the hole in the shock bracket. Twist the lower bolts and nuts tight with about 28 Nm (250 inch lbs.) of torque. After that, fit the upper grommet and retainer on the stud and then tighten the nut to 23 Nm (17 ft. lbs.).
