How to Service and Repair a Rear Shock Absorber on 2004 Jeep Wrangler?

For the rear shock absorber service, first raise and support the vehicle and axle. First, take out the upper bolts and afterward, the nut and bolt from the axle bracket to unfasten the shock absorber. Install the shock absorber above the upper frame rail and fix it with the bolts, tightening them to 31 Nm (23 ft. lbs.). Then, add the lower bolt and its nut, just loosely, remove the supports and allow the vehicle to lower down. Tighten the bottom nut to the required amount which is 100 Nm (74 ft. lbs.).
