How to Maintain Your Rear Shock Absorber on 2006 Jeep Wrangler?

Before starting to service the rear shock absorber, make sure the vehicle is supported on jacks under the axle. Remove the four bolts inside the wheel, plus the nut and bolt on the opposite side, to take off the shock absorber. To install, fix the shock absorber up on the upper frame rail and tighten down the mounting bolts to 31 Nm (23 ft. lbs.). After that, add the lower bolt and nut just until the bushings meet, drop the supports and lower the car. Tighten the lower nut to reach 100 Nm (74 ft. lbs.).
