2006 Chrysler 300 Power Steering Cooler Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair a Power Steering Cooler on 2006 Chrysler 300?
A: You should begin by removing the battery negative cable from the battery and then siphon power steering fluid out of the pump reservoir. Pull up the vehicle and take off the belly pan. Reduce all four hoses by taking off each hose clamp and removing each hose from both the steering gear and reservoir at the cooler. Press in on the cooler clips and take the cooler out of the cooling module. For the SRT8 fluid cooler, do the basic steps and remove the specified hose clamps and hoses. For installation, place the cooler over the mounting clips connected to the cooling module, making sure it snaps into position by pushing beyond the small retaining tabs. If you see a long paint stripe running along one side of the return hose close to the end, place this hose on top when fitting it to the cooler for proper flow. Push in the return hose from the reservoir to the left end of the cooler and clamp it and then repeat with the gear return hose going to the right end of the cooler. Fit the belly pan back, lower the vehicle and attach the negative battery cable firmly to the battery post. Once the filter and reservoir are installed, fill the pump reservoir with fluid and do the pump initial operation.
