2006 Chrysler 300 Tie Rod End Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair a Tie Rod End on 2006 Chrysler 300?
A: Lift and support the car, disconnect the front nut in the wheel hub and remove the front tire and wheel all at the same time. Be sure to not twist the bellows as you loosen the jam nut and rotate the inner tie rod; after taking off the clamp, you should find that the bellows moves without resistance. Loose the jam nut on the outer tie rod, remove the outer tie rod nut at the knuckle and separate the end from the knuckle using Remover, Special Tool 9630. Take the outer tie rod off the inner tie rod, making note of how many turns are used so you can replace it the same way. RWD requires you to proceed in the same way as AWD. Thread the outer tie rod onto the inner tie rod as many times as you first did when removing it and then install the outer end into the steering knuckle and secure it with 85 Nm (63 ft. lbs.) torque. Mount the tire and wheel assembly and tighten the locks nuts to 150 Nm (110 ft. lbs.) torque; next, lower the vehicle and do a wheel alignment to correct through-thrust (toe). Make sure to tighten both AWD and RWD car's tie rod jam nut to 75 Nm (55 ft. lbs.).
