Before working on the right side exhaust manifold, cut off the negative battery and take out the air cleaner housing. Place the vehicle on supports, remove all lower splash shield screws and afterward the splash shield. Following this, disconnect and remove the right catalytic converter, next the nuts from the exhaust manifold, the exhaust manifold and finally the gaskets found below the vehicle. Before installing, apply the manifold and gaskets over the cylinder head and then tighten the manifold nuts to 35 Nm (26 ft. lbs.). Fit the right side catalytic converter first, then set the lower splash shield and screws into place, while tightening them to 5 Nm (44 in. lbs.). Also, bring the vehicle down, remove the air cleaner, reattach the negative cable to the battery and start the motor so you can identify exhaust leaks.
