2006 Chrysler Crossfire Valve Stem Seal Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Service and Repair a Valve Stem Seal on 2006 Chrysler Crossfire?
A: Removing the starter and camshaft is the first step, before taking out a spark plug from the cylinder being serviced and placing it at top dead center on the engine. Once you've put Special Tool 9102 into the starter opening, pressurize the combustion chamber. Crush the valve spring by installing the assembly tool and when it is crushed, remove the collets. Open the valve spring with a tool and then remove the valve spring retainer, spring and spring seat. Use seal pliers when removing the valve stem seal. Assemble all valves properly and only release the air pressure from the cylinder after replacing the broken valve stems when you notice them. To put in the seal, oil it with clean engine oil and slip the protective sleeve onto the valve stem. Put the seal over the valve with seal pliers and after that, remove the protective cover. Attach the valve spring seat, valve spring and valve spring retainer, use the assembly tool to squeeze the valve spring and insert the collets at the same time spring is tightly pressed. After emptying the valve, slowly let go of the valve spring, so the collets sit in the retainer, then take the assembly instrument out. Do the work on each cylinder alone and repeat it for all the valves being serviced. After that, take out Special Tool 9102 Flywheel Locking Tool, install the starter and finally the camshafts.
