Chrysler Crossfire Valve Stem Seal Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Service and Repair a Valve Stem Seal on Chrysler Crossfire?
    A:
To work on the valve stem seal, first remove the starter and Camshafts and then remove a spark plug from the cylinder you're servicing. Place the cylinder at top dead center and lock the Flywheel by inserting Special Tool 9102 Flywheel Locking Tool into the starter opening. Assemble while the chamber is sealed and then compress the valve spring with the assembly instrument. Carefully remove the collets from the valve spring after you have removed its tension, then remove the retainer, spring and spring seat. Use seal pliers to remove the metic part from the valve stem. Be sure each valve is put together correctly before you let the air out of the cylinder and perform this on every cylinder as necessary. Examine each valve stem and change those that show any damage.
