2006 Chrysler Pacifica Hood Hinge Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair a Hood Hinge on 2006 Chrysler Pacifica?
A: First, place the hood on the side you want to repair and remove the cowl plenum grille before starting any service. Outline with a grease pencil or use another tool to mark where each hinge and bolt should be attached. Get rid of the pivot bolt and pivot bushing first and after that, take off the bolts connecting the upper or lower part of the hinge. Separate the hood from the car and when needed, paint the hinge before putting it into place. Set the upper hood hinge in place with the hood and secure it loosely and secure the lower hood hinge in the cowl in the same way. Have someone help you to lift the hood onto the vehicle and then, together, install the pivot bolts and bushings so the hood halves are secure, tighten the bolt to a torque of 28 N.m (250 in.lbs.). Attach the cowl plenum grille back on and make sure all marks are correct and all bolts have been tightened, so the hood aligns properly. Set the operation and alignment of the hood, then tighten the bolts holding the hinge to the body to 9 N.m and the bolts joining the hinge to the hood to 14 N.m. After that, close the hood, get rid of the supports and test the hood to make sure it works.
