Q: How to Service and Repair a Power Steering Hose on a 3.5L Engine for Pressure Hose on 2006 Chrysler Pacifica?
A: First, open the power steering fluid reservoir and loosen the tube nut that holds the pressure line to the power steering pump and finally disconnect the pressure hose from the pump. After that, pull the wiring clip connecting the generator harness out of the pump, safely raise and retain the vehicle using a jack or platform and remove the right front tire and wheel set. Take out the splash shield for the drive belt, then unscrew the nut and the clamp holding the tube routed to the A/C compressor mounted bracket. First, remove the routing clip attaching the return hose to the pressure hose near the drive belt. Following that, screw out the screw that holds the pressure and return hose routing clamps to the right side of the engine cradle. Take out the tie-strap clip that holds the pressure hose, then get the tube nut loose on the hole for the power steering gear and get the hose out of the gear port. With the pressure hose disconnected from the car, put the new one in place as you removed it, ensure both ends are clean, slip the O-ring in place, coat it with clean power steering fluid and tighten the tube nut using the required torque. Fit the pressure hose to the engine cradle with the tie-strap clip, then set the pressure hose routing clamp over the return hose routing clamp on the engine cradle's right side and fasten them with a screw tightened to 10 Nm (90 inch lbs.) torque. Secure the return hose to the pressure hose with the routing clip, then raise the vehicle, change out the power steering pressure hose O-ring, set it into the pump fitting and tighten the tube nut up to 31 Nm (275 inch lbs.) torque. Lift the vehicle a second time, attach the pressure and return lines to the A/C compressor bracket, fit the routing clamp and tighten the nut to 12 Nm (105 inch lbs.) torque. After that, reinstall the splash shield for the drive belt, the wheel and tire assembly, tighten the nuts on the wheel mounts to 135 Nm (100 ft. lbs. torque) and lower the vehicle. After installing the generator wiring harness routing clip into the pump, put the reservoir in place, refill and bleed the system for power steering and make sure there are no leaks.
