  • Q: How to Replace a Ball Joint Seal Boot on 2006 Chrysler Sebring?
    A: It is important to check for a damaged boot during a service check, since driving with a worn boot on the ball joint allows contamination and means you will have to replace the lower control arm to avoid too much wear. Since the lower control arm ball joint is lubricated for life, having no lubricant present means the entire arm must be changed. The first step is to take off the lower control arm assembly from the car. Use a shop towel to wrap the ball joint and seal boot during cleaning so the dirt and solvent cannot get into the ball joint. Work around the ball joint and seal carefully with Mopar Foamy Engine Degreaser, then wipe the boot of the ball joint seal with a towel soaked in the degreaser. Then, remove the ball joint seal retaining ring at the bottom of the seal using two screwdrivers and after that, remove the seal itself from off the ball joint.
