2007 Chrysler Sebring Ball Joint Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Maintain and Fix a Ball Joint on 2007 Chrysler Sebring?
A: To work on the ball joint, raise and support your car first. Take off the wheel mounting nuts and the whole tire and wheel unit. Applying pressure to stop hub turn, remove the hub nut from the axle half shaft by using a sledgehammer. Disconnect the clip that holds the wheel speed sensor cable to the knuckle and then get rid of the front brake rotor. Lift the screw that holds the wheel speed sensor to the knuckle and pull the sensor out. After that, release the fastener holding the lower ball joint to the lower control arm and then unbolt the joint with Remover, Special Tool 9360, without separating the knuckle. Remove the knuckle from the lower control arm, making sure the half shaft is still beneath it to stop the inner C/V joint from parting. Remove the knuckle from the outer part of the C/V joint on the axle half shaft by supporting the half shaft first. Using the hole in the knuckle, beat the edges of the snap-ring with a drift punch to get it out from inside the ball joint. First set Remover, Special Tool 9964-3 and Remover, Special Tool 9964-4 on Remover/Installer, Special Tool 8441-1, using them to hold the ball joint. Screw them in position using your fingers. Snap the screw-drive in place with a hand-tool, force the ball joint out of the knuckle, unfasten the screw-drive and then remove everything together.
