2006 Chrysler Sebring Power Steering Hose Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair a Power Steering Hose for Pressure Hose on 2006 Chrysler Sebring?
A: Before starting, turn off the engine and allow all the components to cool so you don't get burned by hot fluid or exhaust. Close all the open ends of hoses, power steering pump fittings and steering gear ports to keep them clean. Take the remote ground cable away from the ground stud on the left shock tower and isolate it. Full the reservoir, then lift the vehicle and take off the accessory drive splash shield. Separate the pressure hose from the pump and remove the wheel and tire assembly from the left front side of your vehicle. After that, pull the power steering fluid pressure hose out of the power steering gear and remove the bolts or screws holding it to the crossmember. To fit the hose properly, insert it on top of the front suspension crossmember, holding it in the same way you removed the old hose and tightening the screws to 45 Nm (33 ft. lbs.). Wipe down every clean hose end and fitting with a dry cloth and then add a new O-ring to each end fitting of the steering pressure hose, coating them with some new power steering fluid. Connect the pressure hose to the gear port and turn on the tube nut until it reaches 31 Nm (275 In. lbs., then move on to the pump pressure fitting. Put the accessory drive splash shield and the left front wheel and tire assembly back, then tighten the lug nuts on a crisscross fashion to 135 Nm (100 ft. lbs.). Drop the vehicle down, link the remote battery ground cable, top up the reservoir and use the Power Steering Pump Initial Operation procedure to bleed the system. Also, ensure there are no leaks in the house.
