2006 Chrysler Town & Country Rocker Arm Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Service and Repair a Rocker Arm on 2006 Chrysler Town & Country?
A: To take care of the rocker arm assembly, remove the cylinder head cover(s) first. Turn each bolts on the rocker shafts all the way until the pressure of the valve springs becomes apparent, letting them go. Then, unmount the rocker arms and remove the whole shaft assembly. Be careful not to drive the billeted bolt out of the rocker shaft which can harm the retainer and bolt assembly. Grip the retainer with adjustable pliers and pull it up slowly by rocking it which should loosen it from the shaft. Take out the rocker arms and make sure to know where they belong for easy reassembly. While doing assembly, install the rocker arms on the shaft in the same spots as before, checking that the rocker shaft, retainers and washers are all where they should be. Fit the rocker arms and shaft to the cylinder head so the long bolt securing the shaft is correctly aligned. After fitting the pedestal mounts, place the rocker arm and shaft assemblies on them and verify that all pushrods are in the correct lifter and rocker arm locations. Line up every rocker arm socket with its intended pushrod and tighten all the rocker shank bolts at the same time, beginning with the bolts in the center and waiting 20 minutes after installation before using the engine. Have all bolts tightened to 23 Nm (200 inch lbs.) and fit the cylinder head covers back into place.
