First, remove the negative battery cable and then raise the vehicle to reach the upstream oxygen sensor. Remove the electric connector before using the socket or suitable tool to loosen the sensor. Clean the threads of the sensor with an 18 mm X 1.5 + 6E tap. Should you use the original sensor, thread Loctite 771-64 anti-seize compound on the engine block, as new sensors are coated already. Tighten the sensor to 27 N.m (20 ft. lbs.) after cleaning the manifold threads with a similar tap. Place the wire attached to the O2 sensor back in its connector and attach it to the adjacent bracket. When you're done, lower the car and attach the negative battery cable.
