2006 Dodge Caravan Wheel Stud Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Maintain Wheel Studs on the Front Wheels on 2006 Dodge Caravan?
A: Raise the car, remove the front wheel and tire and proceed with servicing the mounting studs. After that, loosen and remove the bolts that link the caliper adapter to the steering knuckle; this lets you take the disc brake caliper and adapter off as a group, with the assembly safely suspended out of the way and without stretching the brake hose. Slide the brake rotor straight out of its mounting on the wheel studs. Begin by putting a wheel mounting (lug) nut on the stud just so the threads are even with the nut surface, then use Special Tool C-4150A at the hub and the flange of the bearing, together with the wheel stud. After the stud shoulder passes the flange, push it out with the Remover, unclip the special tool and get rid of the nut and the stud. First, put the replacement wheel stud into the hub and bearing on the rear flange, then add washers and finally use a standard wheel mounting (lug) nut with its flat side facing the washers. Apply pressure to the head of the nut while holding the wheel stud until you can't increase the tension, then take off the nut and washers. Install the brake rotor onto the hub and bearing and after that, put the brake caliper and adapter onto the rotor, lining up the adapter holes with those on the steering knuckle. Secure the adapter to the engine by using two mounting bolts and tighten them to a torque of 169 Nm (125 ft. lbs.). Mate the wheel and tire again after reattachment, screw the wheel nuts on tightly in the right order to a force of 135 Nm (100 ft. lbs.), lift the vehicle and drive it briefly to assess whether the brakes work properly.
