2006 Dodge Dakota Intake Manifold Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Service and Repair an Intake Manifold on 2006 Dodge Dakota?
A: First, unhook the negative terminal from the battery when servicing the intake manifold and also take out the resonator assembly and the air inlet hose. Unhook the issues related to the MAP Sensor, IAT Sensor, TPS Sensor, CTS Sensor and IAC Motor from the connectors and throttle cable. The next step is to remove the air conditioning compressor electrical connection, plus those for the generator, vapor purge hose, brake booster hose, speed control servo hose and positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) hose. Unscrew the left and right radio suppressor straps, remove the ignition coil towers and take off the top oil dipstick retaining bolt and ground strap too. Bleed the fuel system, then disconnect the fuel rail, remove the throttle body assembly and its mounting bracket. Before fresh testing, remove the heater hoses from both sides of the engine front cover and heater core, remove the heater hoses and tubes from the intake manifold and take out the coolant temperature sensor. Take out the retaining fasteners that secure the intake manifold in the order you tightened them and then lift out the intake manifold. Installation should begin with placing the intake manifold gaskets and move on to the intake manifold. Augment the intake manifold by putting in the retaining bolts and tighten them cautiously according to the specified order at 12 Nm (105 inch lbs.). Replace the left and right radio suppressor straps, install the throttle body assembly and link the throttle cable and speed control cable with the throttle body. Install the fuel rail and ignition coil towers, put the heating hoses onto the intake manifold and attach the hoses to the heater core and engine front cover. Attach the electrical links back to the MAP Sensor, IAT Sensor, TPS Sensor, CTS Sensor, IAC Motor, the ignition coil towers and the fuel injectors. After that, add the last bolt for the oil dipstick tube, fit the ground strap, reconnect the generator circuits, attach the six remaining hoses, top up the coolant, reinstall the resonator, air inlet hose and battery negative cable and install the PCV valve.
