2006 Dodge Durango Brake Pad Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Effectively Service and Repair Brake Pads on 2006 Dodge Durango?
A: Before you work on the brake pads, first lift and support your car, remove the wheels and take off the tires. Squeeze the caliper and by tipping the top covered by the adapter, lift the caliper so it is not being supported by the brake hose. Carefully hang the caliper and take out the inner and outer brake shoes from the caliper adapter; be sure to note that anti-rattle springs cannot be swapped between the brake shoes. Following this, unmount the top and bottom springs inside the caliper adapter. During installation, put the C-clamp and brake shoe between the caliper piston and between the piston and the caliper bore to bottom the piston out. Clean the mounting adapter and the anti-rattle springs and only use Mopar brake grease to lubricate the springs, since they cannot be switched. After that, fit the bottom and top anti-rattle springs and then install the inboard and outboard brake shoes in the adapter. Cover the rotor with the top of the caliper and push the bottom onto the adapter as you set it in place. Raise the automobile, reapply the wheels and tires, lower the vehicle until it's on level ground and gently apply the brakes until they start to feel firm. Be sure to add fluid to the master cyliner until the indicated level is reached.
