2006 Dodge Durango Parking Brake Cable Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair a Front Parking Brake Cable on 2006 Dodge Durango?
A: Make sure to support and raise your car, then put the parking brake cable in lockout mode. Release adjusting nut 1 so that slack forms in the front cable, then take the front cable out of the cable connector. Tighten the connection at underbody bracket 1 and take the cable 2 out. Take your car out of the air and use a small screwdriver to slide the ball end of the cable away from the pedal clevis. Thread fitting 2 on to the pedal bracket and then bring back cable 1 to remove it. Take out the left cowl trim and sill plate, peel back the carpet and get the cable free from the body clip. Grab cable 2 and pull it using the body grommet to take it out. Insert fitting 2 into the hole inside the pedal assembly, place the cable retainer in the assembly and clip the cable ball onto the clevis before tightening. Run cable 2 inside the vehicle through the floor, add body grommet 1, put on the carpet and set the left cowl and sill plate back in place. Hold the vehicle up again, pass the cable underbody bracket 1 and place its end in cable end fitting 2. Connect one end of the cable into the cable connector, do the park brake adjustment and then lower the vehicle.
