2005 Dodge Durango Brake Pad Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Effectively Service and Repair Brake Pads on 2005 Dodge Durango?
A: First, place the vehicle in the air and then take out the wheel and tire combinations. ensure the brake hose doesn't help to hold the caliper, tilt the top of the adapter to remove the caliper and disconnect it from the piston. Set up the caliper, then pull out both brake shoes from the adapter, remembering that anti-rattle springs are not interchangeable. After that, pull out the anti-rattle springs at the sides of the caliper adapter. Slide each piston down into the caliper's bore and hold it there with a C-clamp and a used brake shoe. Wash the caliper mounting adapter and anti-rattle springs, then lube the springs with Mopar(R) brake grease, since they should not be swapped. After the connecting brackets, install the bottom and top anti-rattle springs, then put in the inboard and outboard brake shoes into the adapter. Turn the top part of the caliper up above the rotor and into place under the adapter, then press the bottom part of the caliper down onto the adapter and set it in place. Place the wheel and tire assemblies back on the vehicle, drop it down, then press the brakes several times to let all braking parts settle and seal properly. Then, make sure to fully fill the master cylinder with the brake fluid.
