2006 Dodge Durango Door Hinge Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service a Door Hinge Without Removing the Door on 2006 Dodge Durango?
A: It is possible to do this repair without removing the door if you replace one hinge at a time and the washers should remain welded to the hinge to prevent adjustments to the door. Updating the sealing around the hinges comes first before removing or shifting them. First, open the door on the front side of the house. On the upper hinge, mark where it sits on the door and the B-pillar with a grease pencil, detach the hinge from the door by removing its two nuts and remove the three bolts that fasten it to the B-pillar before disassembling the hinge. Like before, take the lower hinge, install its markers, detach the lower B-pillar trim and uninstall the two nuts and two bolts securing the hinge to the door and B-pillar. In the vehicle, break loose the last screw holding the hinge to the B-pillar and pull out the hinge. To fit the upper hinge, re-install the hinge to door washers together with the nuts, tighten everything loosely, then tighten the three bolts to 28 N.m (21 ft.lbs.) as indicated by the order. For the lower hinge, connect the hinge and the B-pillar bolts, tighten them all to 28 N.m (21 ft.lbs.), put the hinge on the door washers and nuts, tighten those to 28 N.m (21 ft.lbs.) and possibly adjust the door.
