2006 Dodge Durango Cigarette Lighter Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service the Cigarette Lighter Power Outlet on 2006 Dodge Durango?
A: Before starting the auxiliary cigarette lighter service, disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable first. Take off the cigarette lighter knob and element from under the cigarette lighter or unsnap the plastic cover from the cigarette lighter. Find the rectangular retaining bosses within the receptacle base; they hold it in place against the panel. Engage the pliers with the retaining bosses, squeeze the handle to detach them and gently rock the pliers as you pull the base of the receptacle from the mount. Pull the base of the receptacle out of the instrument panel and disconnect its wire harness connector from the connector located inside the panel. Remove the electronic sensor from the instrument panel. First, attach the wire harness to the connector in the receptacle base, then set the mount into place on the instrument panel so the splines meet the grooves. Make sure to press the retaining bosses in until they are fully fixed. Afterward, return the cigarette lighter knob and element or protect cap to place and link the negative end of the battery cable back.
