  • Q: How to Replace a Hood Hinge Without Removing the Hood on 2006 Dodge Durango?
    A: The hood does not have to be taken off to replace one or both hood hinges; they can be changed individually. You should start by lifting the hood and propping up the side where the hinge hinges replacement. Lift off the cowl grille and use the grease pencil to show where bolts and hinges should be fitted when you reinstall the cowl grille. After that, take out the fender support bolt, the plastic rivets and the wheelhouse splash shield. After that, get rid of the nuts securing the hinge to the hood and, again from the inside of the fender, unbolt the two hinges. Pull the hinge forward until it comes loose from the fender rail. To install, slot the hinge in the fender rail, align it with the marks and fasten the hinge bolts with an inside torque of 20 N.m on each. Add and fasten the nuts on the hinge on top of the hood, spinning them to 23 N.m. Make sure the hood looks and fits properly and make any changes required before sealing.
