2005 Dodge Durango Parking Brake Cable Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair a Parking Brake Cable on 2005 Dodge Durango?
A: For servicing or fixing the rear park brake cable, lift and hold up the vehicle and afterwards disable the parking brake cable's operation. Adjust and release the cable adjuster nut, then remove the rear park brake cable from where it's attached to the intermediate park brake cable. Clamp the tabs on the cable end fitting that attaches to the rear park brake cable. Then push the cable through the frame mount bracket. Release the park brake cable behind the rotor assembly, then squeeze together the cable tabs at each cable support plate to remove them. Push each cable end through the brake cable support plate hole and let the cable end fit tabs slide inside the cable slot so you can lock the cable with a pull. Cover the left cable end with the fitting tabs and place these tabs into the frame bracket hole. Get the rear cables behind the brake assembly's tensioner rod and match the cable to the intermediate cable connector. Then, get rid of the lockout device, complete the park brake adjustment and use a helper to lift the vehicle now that all is ready for lowering.
