2006 Dodge Grand Caravan Parking Brake Cable Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair a Parking Brake Cable for Intermediate on 2006 Dodge Grand Caravan?
A: Before doing any work on the parking brake cable, you should raise and support the vehicle, lock out the automatic fixing of the lever assembly and wait until all the cable is installed again. Take the parking brake cable away from the equalizer and the nut holding the cable housing to the side bracket attached to the frame rail. Separate the intermediate parking brake cable from the right rear parking brake cable by disconnecting it from the cable connector. After that, take off the locking nut keeping the intermediate cable housing attached to the side bracket on the frame rail. On short-wheel-base trucks, drop the fuel tank far enough to detach the cable to the intermediate parking brake. Put the two ends of the park brake cables through the frame rails into their brackets and secure both ends with locking nuts. In case it's necessary, put the fuel tank back in place so it is visible. Link the intermediate parking brake cable to the right rear parking brake cable connector and also to the cable equalizer. You need to remove your locking pliers from the front park brake cable to enable the automatic adjuster and ensure perfect adjustment of the parking brake cables. Next, place the foam collar on the parking brake cable so it doesn't touch the floor, lower the vehicle and push on the park brake pedal only once to settle the cables.
