2006 Dodge Ram 1500 Brake Caliper Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair Brake Calipers for Rear LD and HD on 2006 Dodge Ram 1500?
A: After elevating the vehicle and placing it on stands, you should next remove the tire and wheel assembly from the rear LD and HD brake calipers. Remove a little brake fluid from the master cylinder reservoir using a suction gun. Once that's complete, remove the brake hose banjo bolt and dispose of the copper washers if you are replacing the caliper. Loose the slide bolts that secure the caliper and remove the caliper from the car. Coat the caliper slide pin bolts with silicone grease, insert the caliper into the caliper adapter and then tighten to 30 Nm (22 ft. lbs.). Place the brake hose banjo bolt back if you removed it, connect the hose to the caliper with fresh seal washers and tighten its bolt to 27 Nm (245 inch lbs.), making certain the hose is without twists or kinks. Drain the base brake system, then fit back the wheel and tire assemblies, take off the supports and lower the whole vehicle. Don't forget to ensure the brake is working just before trying to move the vehicle forward.
