2005 Dodge Ram 1500 Brake Caliper Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair a Rear Brake Caliper on 2005 Dodge Ram 1500?
A: Lift and secure the vehicle, take off the wheel and then service or repair the rear brake caliper. You should drain a little bit of fluid from the master cylinder brake reservoir with a clean suction gun. Pry the caliper pistons in at the bottom, then remove the bolts on the caliper slide and remove the caliper from the mount while making sure it is supported to stop the hose from being damaged. Following that, take off the brake pads from both sides, the anti-rattle clips and the bolts that hold the caliper adapter in place. If the caliper adapter has been removed, then fasten the mounting bolts of the caliper adapter to 135 Nm in LD or 197 Nm in HD. Finish by fitting anti-rattle clips, inboard and outboard pads. Install the caliper mounting bolts and then place the whole tire and wheel together again.
