2006 Dodge Ram 3500 Oil Filter Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Change an Oil Filter on 2006 Dodge Ram 3500?
A: Before servicing the engine oil filter, set a drain pan underneath it. Only use a properly sized oil filter wrench when removing the old filter. Turn the oil filter counterclockwise to take it out of the cylinder block oil filter boss. After the filter separates, tip the gasket end to the top to keep oil from spilling and make sure the filter and its gasket are removed. Scrub the area of the gasket that seals with oil using a wiping cloth. Before putting on the oil filter, put a small amount of engine oil on its gasket. Secure the adapter nipple onto the filter, making sure the gasket is touching the sealing surface, then turn the filter one half turn or 180°, not too tightly. Next, put the oil in, check how much oil is in the crankcase, run the engine and check if there are oil leaks present.
