2006 Dodge Sprinter 2500 Evaporator Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Maintain an Evaporator in the Rear A/C System on 2006 Dodge Sprinter 2500?
A: Remove the rear A/C evaporator housing along with any other parts that may interfere, then put the housing on a suitable work surface. After that, undo the five screws and washers connecting the condensate drain pan to the rear A/C evaporator bottom and remove the pan. Unwrap the insulating tape around the A/C expansion valve in the rear and separate it from the evaporator. Next, disconnect the left blower motor from the housing, while making sure you don't hurt the rear A/C parts when you drill out the rivets. Remove the rivets from the three covers that attach them to the evaporator and then remove the covers. After finishing all that, remove the four rivets connecting the evaporator to the housing and take it out. Before adding refrigerant oil to your new evaporator, measure and drain the oil from the previous unit. Put the new evaporator in the housing's lowest spot and replace each rivet using four new ones. Install eight new rivets and link the three layers again and then put the left blower motor back into the housing. Tie the rear A/C expansion valve to the evaporator and put on some new insulating tape. Place the condensate drain pan under the evaporator, put the five screws and washers back, tightening each one to 2.2 N.m (20 in. lbs.) and then reassemble the rear A/C evaporator housing.
