Always turn off the supplemental restraint system in vehicles with air bags before opening the front A/C evaporator to retain your safety. Separate the negative (or ground) cable from the battery once, then wait two minutes until the system capacitor discharges before moving on. After you remove the HVAC housing, take it apart to expose the A/C evaporator and then lift that out of the HVAC housing unit below. When exchanging the A/C evaporator, mix 60 milliliters (2 fluid ounces) of refrigerator oil suggested for the A/C compressor in the refrigerant container. Secure the replacement evaporator at the bottom half of your HVAC case, put the back cover on and then put the case back into your car.
