2006 Dodge Sprinter 2500 Oil Pan Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Service and Repair an Oil Pan on 2006 Dodge Sprinter 2500?
A: Before you service or fix the oil pan, drain the oil from the engine, remove the sway bar bolts and pull the sway bar up and out of your way. After that, remove the wiring harness duct from the oil pan bolts and place it nearby. Let the car down, then remove the heat shield from the upper part of the turbocharger. Fix engine support fixture #8534 using adaptors #853416 to the engine lifting eye and increase the engine's height slightly. Firts remove the engine mounts and then lift the engine. As soon as the engine is up, remove the oil level sensor. Gently remove the oil pan bolts that hold the transmission cooler lines and put them aside. Take out the bolts, remove the oil pan and then remove the oil pan gasket. Make sure the oil pan bolts are installed back to their original areas because they come in different lengths and sizes. Once the strainer is clean, coat its insides with fresh engine oil, add engine oil to the loosened pump and properly clean all the sides you will be putting together. With the oil pan in position, put the gasket above it and coat the indicated sealing points on the engine block with sealant. Set up the oil pan, tighten all M6 bolts to 9 Nm (80 inch lbs.), all M8 bolts to 20 Nm (15 ft. lbs.) and tighten the transmission bell housing bolt to the oil pan to 40 Nm (30 ft. lbs.). Put the wiring harness duct in place and link the oil fill level sensor. Remove the vehicle and engine down until the engine touches the mount and supports; then, place the engine into position and tighten all mount bolts by hand. Completely lower the engine and get rid of the engine support fixture, keying the engine mount bolts in at 83 Nm (61 ft. lbs.). Replace the sway bar, screw in the bolts to 30 Nm (22 ft. lbs.), add the description of engine oil and return the negative battery cable. Don't come into contact with pulleys, belts or the fan when the engine is on and always wear clothes that fit tightly. After that, switch on the engine and look for any leaking fluid.
