2006 Jeep Commander Crankshaft Seal Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair a Front Crankshaft Seal on 2006 Jeep Commander?
A: Before doing anything else, remove the negative cable from the battery and then take out the accessory drive belt. Then, remove all fastening bolts from the A/C compressor support and put them aside and next remove the upper radiator hose after draining the cooling system. With the fan inside the shroud disconnected from the car's electrical setup, removing the fan will be easy. When you have completed that, take out the crankshaft damper bolt and use Special Tools 8513 Insert and Tool 1026 Three Jaw Puller to remove the damper from the crankshaft. Remove the crankshaft front seal by using Special Tool 8511. Just before installation, clean the damper bore and crankshaft nose well, to ensure no damage is caused. Before installing the vibration damper, make sure you first replace the oil pump front seal with Special Tools 8348 and 8512. After that, replace the radiator cooling fan and shroud, along with the upper radiator hose. After that, link the A/C compressor, tighten its fasteners to 54 Nm (40 ft. lbs.), put back the accessory drive belt, load the cooling system and link the negative cable with the battery.
