2007 Jeep Commander Crankshaft Seal Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Remove and Replace a Crankshaft Seal on 2007 Jeep Commander?
A: If the procedure takes place in the vehicle, remove the transmission first and then the flexplate before service and repair of the crankshaft main bearing seal. A used crankshaft oil seal (1) cannot be reused after it has been taken off the engine. The crankshaft rear oil seal remover Special Tool 8506 (2) must be inserted into the seal as far as it will go and tightened to its limit; failing to do either may cause the seal to remain in the engine or the tool to come loose and stop working. Removing the crankshaft rear oil seal with Special Tool 8506 (2) is the last step.
