2006 Jeep Commander Harmonic Balancer Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair a Harmonic Balancer on 2006 Jeep Commander?
A: You should begin the process by turning off the battery's negative cable, clearing the radiator fan and extracting the accessory belt for the belt drive. Once you remove the crankshaft damper bolt, get rid of the damper by using Special Tools 8513 Insert and 1026 Three Jaw Puller. Always make sure the damper bore and crankshaft nose are clean before you install the damper to avoid serious harm. Set the slot in the crankshaft damper to match the key on the crankshaft and then slide it onto the crankshaft. Attach Special Tool 8512-A by fitting the nut on the threaded rod, sliding the roller bearing onto the rod with the bearing surface facing the nut and setting the hardened washer onto the rod. Brush some Mopar Nickel Anti-Seize or similar product on the threads of the threaded rod. Take Special Tool 8512-A and press the damper onto the crankshaft, followed by bolting and tightening the crankshaft damper bolt to 175 Nm (130 ft. lbs.). Afterward, attach the radiator fan, the accessory drive belt and put the negative battery cable back in its place.
