How to Maintain a Shock Absorber for Optimal Rear Suspension Performance on 2006 Jeep Commander?

First raise and support the vehicle by placing a hydraulic jack below the axle before starting to service the rear suspension shock absorber. You must first remove the upper bolt from the frame bracket and the lower bolt from the axle bracket in order to take out the shock absorber. Fit the shock absorber into the frame bracket with the bolt and then position and attach it to the axle bracket as well. Fasten the upper mounting bolt/nut to 95 Nm (70 ft. lbs.) and the lower mounting bolt/nut to 115 Nm (85 ft. lbs.). Lastly, take out the supports and bring down the car.
