2007 Jeep Commander Shock Absorber Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair a Right Front Shock Absorber on 2007 Jeep Commander?
A: Service the right front shock absorber by first removing the air box cover and air intake hose and next, disconnect the cruise control servo electrical connector. After that, loosen the coolant reservoir mounting bolt and slide the reservoir away. Loosen and take out the four nuts at the top of the shock mounts, lift the vehicle off the ground and remove the tire. Then, unscrew both brake adapter bolts, supporting the caliper and the adapter under it so the brake hose does not support it. First, take out the disc brake rotor, then unscrew the upper ball joint nut and use special tool 8677 to release the upper ball joint from the knuckle. Begin by taking out the lower clevis bolt at the lower control arm, then remove the lower stabilizer bolt and next, remove the shock from the vehicle. If you need to, take the spring out.
