Q: How to Service and Repair an Intake Manifold on 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee?
A: Before servicing or repairing the intake manifold, first carry out the Fuel System Pressure Release and take off the negative battery cable. Unbolt the resonator assembly and the hose leading from the air inlet and take off the throttle and speed control cables. After that, remove the connectors from the MAP Sensor, IAT Sensor, TPS Sensor, CTS Sensor and IAC Motor. Using a wrench, detach the hoses for vapor purge, brake booster, speed servo and PCV. Undo the generator and air conditioning compressor from the engine, then pull out the left and right radio suppressor straps and ignore the ignition coil towers. Remove the top oil dipstick tube bolt, ground strap and then the fuel rail and connected throttle body with its bracket. Drain the coolant while it is still cool and after that take off the heater hoses from both the engine front cover and the heater core, as well as from the intake manifold. Put in place engine support fixture (1) from special tool #8534 and secure it with an extension bar, then unbolt the engine-to-frame fastener on the right. Lower the engine so that the new engine mount rests where the factory mount did, take out the intake manifold retaining bolts in the order you put them in and take the intake manifold away. You should start the installation by securing the gaskets and then the intake manifold. Attach the intake manifold retaining bolts and tighten them so they have 12 Nm (105 inch lbs.) of torque in the given order. Once done with the air cleaner, fit on the left and right radio suppressor straps and then the throttle body assembly. First, join the throttle cable and speed control cable to the throttle body and then set in place the fuel rail and ignition coil towers. Attach all heater hoses and tubes to the intake manifold and link the hoses with the heater core and engine front cover. Disconnect and reconnect all the electrical fittings for the MAP, IAT, TPS, CTS, IAC, ignition coil towers and fuel injectors. After installing the bolt and ground strap for the oil dipstick tube, reinstall the generator and air conditioning compressor. Join the vapor purge hose, brake booster hose, speed control servo hose and PCV hose. You should then fill the cooling system. Prise the engine using the engine support fixture, the special tool #8534 and attach the right side engine mount to frame bolt. After disconnecting the engine support fixture, special tool # 8534, it's time to set in the resonator assembly, insert the air inlet hose and connect the negative cable to the battery.
