2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee Power Steering Hose Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair a Power Steering Hose for 3.7L and 4.7L Engines on 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee?
A: Before servicing or repairing the power steering lines and hoses for the 3.7L and 4.7L engines, first take the power steering fluid out of the reservoir. To get the pressure hose out, unhook the lines from both the gear and the pump, undo the three brackets holding it to the engine cradle and then remove the entire pressure line from the car. Take off the hose connecting the pump to the cooler at both the pump and the cooler, then pull it out from the car. At the gear and the fluid cooler, separate the return hose and pull it out of your car. Connect the rubber hose from the pump to the gear, install three support brackets to the engine cradle, connect the pressure line once more and ensure you tighten the connections to 28 Nm (21 ft. lbs.). Refresh power steering fluid and bleed the system to finish. Take the hose from the pump, leading to the cooler and connect it. Then, reattach the other end to the cooler and pump; twist each connection to 28 Nm (21 ft. lbs.) and fill up the power steering fluid while bleeding. Route the return hose from the gear to the fluid cooler, reattach both, tighten the connection to 28 Nm (21 ft. lbs.) and then top up the fluid and bleed the power steering system.
