2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee Steering Column Cover Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair a Steering Column Cover on 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee?
A: The steering column cover can be serviced and repaired by first disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable. Tighten the three bolts and pull out the hush panel on the drivers side. Remove the opening cover by separating the upper clips with a trim stick C-4755 or equivalent, rotating the cover down exposing the lower hinges at the bottom and releasing the lower hinges. Spin the cover down on the carpet, hold the part at about the lower edge and draw up and aft with a jerking motion so as to snap out the lower hinge pins. To install, hinge the snap open covers of the lower steering column opening over the pivots and turn it up and take care that the upper fastener clips are seated. Insert the tabs in the front of the hush panel in the slots and tighten all of them by attaching the three screws.
