2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee Window Regulator Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Maintain and Fix a Rear Door Window Regulator on 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee?
A: The first step to fixing or replacing the rear door window regulator is to take out the watershield. Attach the window switch for now and lift the glass all the way up to let you access the clamp screws, then use tape to secure the glass. Open the bolt in the window regulator glass clip enough so the door glass comes loose, but leave the bolt partially inserted. After that, unfasten the window regulator from the inside door with bolts 1 and 4 and remove connection 3. Turn down the regulator and take it out of the door. Load the regulator into the rear door using the big access hole and plug harness connector 3 to the regulator motor. Carry the glass to the regulator clamps and fasten the rails to the door with bolts 1 and 2, applying 8.5 N.m (75 in. lbs.). First, pull off the tape from the top of the door glass, place the window switch temporarily and move the door glass to the highest point. Secure each window regulator glass clamp bolt to 12 N.m (105 in. lbs., but do not snap the bolt into place), then fit both the watershield and trim panel inside the front door and snap the watershield 1 into the groove.
