2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee Window Regulator Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair a Window Regulator for the Rear Door on 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee?
A: Removing the inside trim from the rear door is the first thing to do when servicing or repairing the rear door window regulator. Maneuver the watershield away and with the regulator operating, lift or lower the rear door glass which provides access to the two window regulator glass clamp bolts. Relax the tension on the bolt in every window regulator glass clamp so the door glass pops up and hold the glass at its highest position with tape. Detach the bolt (4) holding the window regulator to the striking plate and loosen the two bolts (1) securing the regulator to the keyed holes (2) inside the door. Run the regulator up to release the bolts from the keyed slots, then lower it and access the wire harness connector at the big hole in the door to disconnect it. To install the regulator, feed it into the rear door from the big access hole and fasten the wire harness connector (3) to the regulator motor. Insert both keyed bolts (1) into the holes (2) on the inside of the door and then screw in bolt (4) to secure the bottom of the regulator to the door at 10 N.m (90 in. lbs.). Remove the regulator and use 10 N.m (90 in. lbs.) of torque to tighten the bolts where you filled the keyed holes. Take off the tape securing the back door glass when it's all the way up. Then, lower the glass and fit it into the two window regulator glass clamps. With the use of the regulator, move the rear door glass and tighten the two window regulator glass clamp bolts to 10 N.m (90 in. lbs). Afterwards, place the watershield and trim panel inside the rear door as well.
