2006 Jeep Wrangler Intake Manifold Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Remove and Reinstall an Intake Manifold on 2006 Jeep Wrangler?
A: Remove the negative battery cable first and then disconnect the connector from the inlet air temperature sensor. After that, remove the air intake tube from the throttle body and pull out the upper air cleaner housing. Take the connectors out of the throttle position sensor (TPS), the idle air control (IAC) motor and the MAP sensor. Get rid of the vacuum lines for the purge solenoid and PCV valve at the intake manifold, along with the vacuum lines for the power brake booster, LDP, EGR transducer and speed control vacuum reservoir (if your vehicle has these). Be sure to remove the throttle, speed control and transaxle control cable wires from the throttle bracket. It is important to release pressure in the fuel system before you take out any fuel line. NOTE: First disconnect the coolant temperature sensor/fuel injector wire harness connector and then the fuel injector harness. Disconnect the fasteners on the intake manifold which leads to the cylinder head and then take the manifold off the engine, being sure to cover any openings with something. Make sure the manifold is flat, no more than 0.15 mm per 300 mm (0.006 in. per foot) off and look for cracks or distortion-replace it when needed. During installation, clean the surfaces around the manifold and put new seals on the cylinder head before seating the manifold into place. Following the correct sequence, use 28 Nm (250 inch lbs.) of force on all fasteners in the intake manifold until all have reached the guaranteed torque. Put the throttle cables in the bracket and then attach the speed and throttle control cables to the throttle lever. Reattach all the vacuum lines to the power brake booster, LDP, EGR transducer and speed control vacuum reservoir at the upper intake manifold fittings after that. Afterward, reattach the connections for the MAP sensor, TPS and IAC motor and link the fuel line and the electric connector for the coolant temperature sensor/fuel injector harness. After that, attach the air cleaner housing and the air intake tube to the throttle body, plug in the inlet air temperature sensor connector and reattach the negative cable to the battery.
